Nobody would give it a second thought before saying that Huawei has made a great impact on the Indian market, lately. Many people don’t know but the ‘Honor’ is basically a sub brand of Huawei and the sale of Honor phones along with Huawei phones are really good in India. Undoubtedly, Honor made a huge name for itself in the Indian market and it is time for Huawei to actually do the same. They make budget phones as well as premium phones and that is how versatile the brand is. Improving its presence would really help in enhancing the market, it has already built.
Huawei Nova 3i is a budget phone which is priced at Rs 20990. This is the price range where this phone has faced a lot of competition but still emerged as one of the bests. Most of the credit for that goes to none other than the premium design it comes with. Even in the mid-range segments, brands these days, are opting for premium materials which would make it look much better. Well, Huawei Nova 3i are among the very few phones which comes with a glass back in that price range. The colours which Huawei offers are really great and they never disappoint. The physical buttons which this phone has are really well-placed. The power button is really convenient to press even though the phone being really big. The placement of the volume buttons could have been a little better since pressing them would require you to shuffle the phone in hand, a little bit. It also has a notch in its 6.3 inch display and the dual camera set up at the back adds up to the beauty of the phone.
The rear setup of this phone has two cameras. One of them is 16 megapixel and the other is 2 megapixel which is used as a depth sensor. Similarly the front setup also has a 24 megapixel camera and 2 megapixel depth sensor. The quality of selfies (which has become the main priority of most people in smartphones, these days) is really nice and the 24 megapixel camera brings out details like never before.
Apart from the camera and design however, the smartphone has a Kirin 710 SoC processor and this is the first phone to have this variant of Kirin. In case you didn’t know, Huawei and Honor phones don’t use processors by Snapdragon or MediaTek. They have their own processor which is called Kirin. This processor is an Octa-Core processor and this has 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage which is expandable. The full HD resolution and the viewing angles are really great.
The Huawei Nova 3i however, comes with a hybrid sim slot which is not in trend anymore. Most of the phones nowadays give a dedicated microSD slot and that’s where it is left behind. The 3340 MaH battery is however good enough to keep the phone charged for almost a day with decent amount of usage. It comes with Android 8.1 Oreo which is absolutely delightful.
This also has a face unlock feature which uses your selfie camera to recognise your face and unlock the phone only when you want to unlock it. Of course you can enable or disable it but the fact of the matter is that the face recognition works absolutely perfect. For a large-screen device like this, you can use many gestures. Voice control as well as Motion Control are also available which makes using the phone much easier.
The processor with the 4 GB RAM does a good job and does not kill background applications. Multitasking is much better with that feature. Playing games like PUBG mobile at medium graphics would not bother you at all. No such lags were noticed when the test was actually done. Not only PUBG but also high graphics game like Asphalt 9 ran very smoothly.
The time for video playback is around 10 hours and 42 minutes which is less than phones which come at lesser prices such as the xiaomi redmi note 5 pro. There are multiple battery saving modes as well but that would not increase the battery life with a very significant amount.
The AI mode in the camera makes the photos much more detailed but the greens looked forced and artificial. The colour reproduction was commendable and all in all, it has a really good camera. Post processing can also be done which is a great feature. Set another features which Huawei gives in its camera application such as light painting, etc. worked absolutely fine. The photos taken at low light were really impressive as well. The good edge detection in the Portrait mode is what makes the camera stand out.
Lastly, competing against brands like Oppo and Vivo in India at that price range is something that is not an easy job. The competition is really high specifically with the Nokia 6.1 plus which has a Snapdragon 636 processor and stock Android. Apart from that, there is the very famous Poco F1 which has a Snapdragon 845 and a huge 4000 mAH battery, standing in the way as the biggest competition. The price is a little higher but the appeal is much higher than that. Overall, this is Huawei just getting started with building its market in the country and people can already sense a lot of better phones from Huawei coming in the market.
If you want a good camera performance with an absolutely amazing looking design, Huawei Nova 3i is the perfect phone for you. This flagship-looking phone will definitely catch many eyes and that’s your priority, go for it.
